POSITION SUMMARY

In alignment with the mission and vision of the YMCA of Honolulu, the Teen Director collaborates closely with fellow YMCA team members under the leadership of the Senior Program Director. This pivotal role assumes primary responsibility for the management and dynamic development of our afterschool and summer teen programs spanning the entire Association. Tasked with ensuring the seamless delivery of top-tier programs and services, the Teen Director operates with precision, adhering to established policies and procedures while strategically advancing the Association's overarching goals. The Teen Director leads the daily operations of the Teen Department including providing quality middle and high school programs; scheduling, supervising, and leading teen staff; developing and implementing middle and high school, and teen programs; and providing financial oversight of program partrons. Serves as a representative of the YMCA by providing quality programs and enriching community relationships, while meeting all standards and expectations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Prioritizes safety and program quality, ensuring programs are safely enhancing participant experience.
  • Manages the assigned budgeted oversight; directly supporting the Association teen programs
  • Collaborates with department leads, branch executives, and other organizational leaders to effectively execute programs
  • Provides effective leadership and accountability of the management and implementation of Association grant and teen funding
  • Works with the Senior Program Director in establishing annual budgets.
  • Ensures quality and accountability of teen programs to meet Youth Development and YMCA Safety requirements, trainings, policies and procedures
  • Works with the Senior Program Director to ensure the Association’s strategic goals are met
  • Provides leadership and support to improving and enriching signature teen programs via ongoing quality improvements and innovative idea implementation
  • Works strategically with community partnerships on all assigned youth development, healthy living and social responsibility programs and initiatives.
  • Supports other departments as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • College degree in Social Services, Recreation, Education, or related field; or 4 years equivalent in related work experience.
  • 2+ years of related experience with supervisory responsibilities.
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement focus area programs.
  • Excellent skills in staff supervision and development, budget analysis, communication, and human relations.
  • Experience with implementing grant proposals and strictly adhering to grant budgets preferred.
  • 1.5+ years of experience in working with teens in an afterschool setting is preferred.
  • Ability to motivate individuals, lead a team, and conduct training.
  • Ability to work with parents, children, and staff of diverse ethnic populations.
  • Adult and child CPR, First Aid, and AED Certifications within 30 days of hire date.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Bus Driver’s certification required within 3 months of hire, which include a valid driver’s license and clean traffic abstract.
  • Ability to travel from one location to another in a timely location required.
