POSITION SUMMARY:
Maintains a healthy environment for all staff, members, and participants of the YMCA. Keeps facility and grounds in a clean and orderly condition. Works with supervisor to assure the optimal functioning and maintenance of building/ building systems, including but not limited to mechanical, fire/life safety, and pool maintenance. Provides a safe facility for staff and members. This position reports to the Senior Program Director and/or Foreman.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills/Knowledge:
- Performs manual tasks for cleaning, repair, and new installations
- Works with general cleaning chemicals
- Sweeps, vacuums, scrubs, mops, waxes, landscapes
- Uses light, power-operated or manual cleaning, maintenance, or landscaping equipment such as drills, floor buffer, power washer, hammer, lawn mower, and chain saw
- Handles pool chemicals and pool maintenance equipment i.e. pool vacuum
- Assists supervisor in repair and maintenance projects
- Immediately reports necessary repairs or supplies as needed
- Cleans designated areas as assigned
- Must be able to read and understand directions, specifically pertaining to the use of cleaning supplies and equipment
Education/Training:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Valid driver’s license
Experience:
- 2 year minimal janitorial, maintenance, and landscaping experience preferred
